Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro: 30oC, overcast and a little drizzly.
It is a cloudy Wednesday morning as I gaze out of the window of my apartment on Rua Duvivier in Copacabana. I am amid my end-of-year holidays, which I usually take between Christmas and New Year. This time of year is ordinarily slow, with few people interested in learning English. As such, I use it as an opportunity to relax and prepare for the upcoming year.
I woke up early this morning and decided to work out at home, seeing that it was drizzling outside. Afterwards, I spent some time studying with one of the online courses I’m currently taking. Later, I went for a long walk along Av. Atalantica, the beachfront promenade.
I enjoy listening to music while walking and have been listening to many Bruce Hornsby and the Range. I find the heavy, intense jazz-style keyboard playing to be amazing and hypnotic!
I once saw Bruce Hornsby and the Range perform in concert with some Brazilian friends at the Hammersmith in London in 1988. It was one of the most memorable shows I’ve ever seen; a fantastic night!
In the afternoon, I went to the cinema to see Avatar 2 with my younger daughter, Yasmin and her mother, my second ex-wife. The movie was okay, nothing special. I think I’m getting too old for this kind of film. Nevertheless, we all enjoyed going out and doing something different.
I arrived home feeling good, especially knowing I won’t have to work tomorrow-I’m on holiday!
In bed by 9.30 pm.
Thank you!!!
