Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro: 30oC, hot, and sunny.
Today, I want to share an honest glimpse into my morning routine, which started without enthusiasm.
Getting out of bed and heading to the gym can sometimes feel daunting. However, once you take that first step, everything else falls into place effortlessly.
As I started my workout routine today, I couldn’t help but think about the power of starting. The initial push may not always be easy, but it’s the catalyst for everything that follows. It’s a reminder that sometimes, we must overcome that initial inertia to set the wheels in motion.
My day didn’t just stop with exercise and a walk; it continued with a blend of work, study, and a heartwarming conversation with Yasmin. It was a day filled with simple joys and a sense of contentment. It reminded me that life often becomes more manageable once we take that first step, whatever it may be.
Later in the day, on my way back from giving a presential class to Dona Vera on the other side of Copacabana, I had an unexpected encounter with an ex-girlfriend from 25 years ago.
She was stunning in her youth; time has done little to diminish her beauty. Yet, she was also undeniably complicated back then, and the passage of time may not have altered that.
Reflecting on that past relationship, I recalled the relief I felt when I chose to end it. I had allowed myself to endure unnecessary pain and suffering, and the decision to move on was a pivotal lesson in my life. It taught me that, more often than not, we have a say in the suffering we endure. We make choices, consciously or otherwise, that impact our well-being.
As our paths briefly crossed today, neither of us exchanged words or compliments. It was a surreal moment that felt like a distant echo from another life.
The truth is, the past is precisely that – the past. It’s a chapter closed, and we’ve moved forward. Looking back, it’s challenging to fathom our choices and the pain we willingly subjected ourselves to at that time.
But today, I stand here as a testament that we can choose a different path free from unnecessary suffering. This lesson reminds me that we can shape our lives and make choices that lead to happiness and fulfilment; we need to be strong and courageous and take the plunge.
It is important to remember that sometimes, we need a little push to start something new and transform our lives. We should also recognize the power of choice and avoid subjecting ourselves to needless pain and suffering.
While we should learn from our past, we shouldn’t allow it to define us. Instead, we should embrace challenges and let go of unnecessary suffering. Ultimately, the past is behind us, and the present offers a blank canvas where we can paint a brighter, more joyful future.
Thank you.
