Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro: 28oC, hot and sunny.
It was the second and last night of the special league of samba schools’ processions at Sambodromo and the penultimate day of the carnival.
It was the middle of the morning, and as Yasmin was not with me, I decided to take a walk along Av. Atlantica by the beach. To my surprise, I stumbled upon a small but charming samba procession. The parade had a religious theme, with people from different religions coming together to celebrate through samba. Seeing everyone moving in the same direction for a common cause was a beautiful sight.
Although the religious samba group was small, their drumming was excellent. This type of samba produces an incredible rhythm during the carnival that is deep enough to touch your soul.
However, due to the strong sun, I could not stay there for long. Nevertheless, I must thank the samba group for their amazing drums. While walking back home, I ran into a friend, and we decided to grab a drink later that evening.
I am starting to feel the pressure of the end of the carnival season and the start of the Brazilian New Year, which brings with it many challenges and tasks that need to be accomplished.
Although apprehensive, I know I can’t avoid facing these responsibilities to improve my life. It’s like water flowing down a hill; it can’t stop or slow down, so I must accept it.
Recently, during the carnival period, I watched a video on YouTube from a renowned neuroscientist discussing the importance of speed in everything we do. If we don’t apply speed to our lives, we can become demotivated and make excuses for ourselves.
While taking a break during the carnival holiday, I realized that rest is good, but being idle for too long can lead to sadness and depressive thoughts. The key to understanding life is to keep moving, stay active, and never stop, just like machines. If we stop and lay idle for too long, we will eventually break. In bed by 11:00 p.m.
Thank you.
