Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro: 30oC, hot, sunny and slightly overcast.
It is a beautiful Saturday morning—30°C with a completely blue sky and no sign of rain. I love the mornings, especially the mornings in Rio. Rio is an extremely beautiful city.
I learned to appreciate it in the morning when I had the dogs and two boxers, Bruce and Petra. I would have to take them out for their first walk at 5:00 a.m. before going to school.
I was living in Flamingo with my English school in Copacabana. The first class at the school was at 8:00 am. Therefore, I would have to take them for walks from 5:00 to 6:00, have breakfast, and then go to Copacabana, arriving at 7 to prepare the school for the day’s first class at 8.
My flat was in the middle of Flamingo, a 5 to 10-minute walk from the beach or the sea. A small public park faces the sea with a view of the Bay and Sugarloaf Mountain.
I often left home with the dogs when it was dark and watched the sunrise with them inside the park. The morning light was amazing, so golden that it made everything look more beautiful and special.
This routine of getting up very early for the dogs continued for more than 15 years, and now this habit is instilled in me. The morning, for me, is the best and most productive part of my day. Yes, I was up at 4:30 and out at 5:00 to exercise this Saturday.
After a hard workout that was for more than two hours. I eventually passed by the bakers for a coffee. I love sitting at a table outside, watching people pass by, and then on to the supermarket for food.
When I arrived home, I wrote my daily entry in my diary. I had green tea, a shower, and dressed again to go out again to buy a battery for the weighing scales.
It was all done by 10 a.m. Yasmin was at her mother’s and arrived at my place in the early afternoon. We decided to walk a little and drop off Mario’s birthday present at his building’s reception. And, of course, we bought Açai to take home on the way back.
In the evening, three games of chess, 2-1 to Yasmin yet again. An omelette for a late and light dinner, and I am in bed by 9:30.
Thank you.
