Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro: 29oC, hot, sunny and slightly cloudy.
In the past, Fridays were typically slow days with extra classes for pupils or replacing cancelled classes. Today, I have a lot of classes for a Friday, 11 to be exact.
It feels like a busy day, but at the same time, I struggle with feeling lazy. It’s like there’s an internal battle going on within me because it’s the eve of the weekend.”
I have fond memories from a long time ago when I used to avoid giving classes after 2:00 pm on Fridays. I had a friend who owned a motorbike, and we would ride to Urca on Fridays after 2:00 pm. We would drink beer while sitting on the wall that overlooks Botafogo Bay. We did this on and off for about six months.
I was making enough money during the week from Monday to Friday mornings, allowing me to have Friday afternoons off. Nowadays, I am older and slower and do not have this privilege anymore.
In some ways, this experience mirrors the changes in Brazil, or at least Rio, where the quality of life was better before than it is today.
I mentioned earlier that I’ve been feeling lazy lately, but upon further reflection, I believe it’s actually fatigue rather than laziness. I’ve been doing a lot of intense physical training, and I think it’s taking a toll on my body. Additionally, I may not be getting enough sleep or eating enough to properly fuel my body.
Last night, I went to bed late and woke up feeling tired. I need to improve my eating and sleeping habits.
In bed by 9:00 pm.
Thank you.
