Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro: 27oC, hot, sunny, and cloudy.
I am fine on Wednesday, the middle of the week. I have paid most of my bills: my rent, Yasmin and Nalva’s rent, and a part of my new glasses.
At the beginning of this year, I treated myself to a new pair of Ray-Bans. Although I already have several pairs, including two or three Ray-Bans, I couldn’t resist buying another one.
I decided to treat myself and bought a pair of glasses. I was pleased with the model I chose. I have a credit facility from the shop where I usually buy my glasses. Dona Vera, the shop owner, is in the same gallery where I had The Right Way School. She is highly communicative and knows how to sell to everybody in the gallery and Copacabana.
Her bubbly and charismatic personality allows her to be very successful in selling. I have bought many pairs of glasses for me and Yasmin from her, more than I care to remember, and I can pay in instalments with no fuss or bother.
When I closed the school, I asked if I could continue to buy from her under the same arrangement, guaranteeing that I would pay as if I were with the school in the gallery. She was very accommodating to Yasmin and me, allowing us to buy glasses on credit without hesitation. She knows I am a responsible payer and would never let her down.
This is something very important that I learned from my father, even though we had minimal contact during my childhood. He always had a strong sense of honour and integrity. If he made a promise or gave his word, he would always follow through and never let anyone down.
This is one of the few positive influences my father had on me, and I try to emulate this aspect of his character. I always try to do the right thing, even if it may be detrimental to my own interests. If I give my word, I feel obligated to keep it, no matter what.
“MY WORD IS MY BOND”!!!
In today’s society, there is a strong emphasis on appearances and social status. Those who are considered to be at the top of the social hierarchy are often viewed as kings or queens. However, it is important to note that not all individuals who have reached the top have done so through ethical means.
Moreover, they may not be able to maintain their position due to their lack of moral character and integrity. It is also essential not to forget the concept of divine justice or the laws of Karma.
I, Richard, may not be wealthy or successful, but I always strive to act with integrity and in a way that doesn’t harm or take advantage of others.
This doesn’t mean I’m a pushover; it simply means that I aim to do what’s right according to my values and the principles of divine justice. And I thank my father for giving me that code!
So, I picked up some money that a pupil had to pay me, and I immediately went to Vera’s to pay her. I think I still owe her about R$300.00 Reais, but she knows she will receive it by the end of the month. Whilst I was out, I had some A4 cards printed with the latest goals for the year.
I usually type and prepare my yearly goal documents the day before, then send them via email. Next, I have them printed in A4 size and laminated with plastic at a local printing bureau in Copacabana. The bureau publishes them and all I need to do is pick them up and pay for the service.
When I moved into the Copacabana flat, I printed 3 or 4 with three main points: EXERCISE, WORK and STUDY. Now, with my new birth year approaching, I have new cards that I have changed a little:
“EXERCISE, WORK, MAKE MONEY/CONTENT, and STUDY”!!!
Previously, my main goals were to improve my physical fitness and gain knowledge. However, currently, my focus has shifted towards maintaining my physical fitness and generating income through the internet. I am motivated and ready to achieve my goals. I also believe that there is a significant impact in writing down or printing your goals onto paper.
In bed by 9.00 pm.
Thank you.
