Flamengo, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: 29 degrees, hot, sunny and slightly overcast.
Stuff is getting done, and I like it when I am making progress, improving, and when important problems or obstacles are resolved.
At the beginning of the week, I spoke to Renato, a pupil of mine who works in IT, specifically in software development and programming. I need to reconfigure ‘the long gringo’ blog and monetise it so that I can receive money from it in the future and return to England.
Although I’m a big believer in self-learning, I have been able to create and build the site, get it working, and put it together. I also know it needs a professional touch, someone who really knows what they’re doing to take the site to another level. So that it can be monetised, and I can also learn more about web design and about reaching out or delegating, is an important part of business, professional development, and just getting shit done.
In this part of blogs, WordPress, etc., Renato is not as well prepared or experienced. Still, he has referred me to another professional, a colleague of his, Alex, whom Renato told me he trusted and who he said could do everything I needed.
What I liked was that, as soon as Renato sent me a message saying he had spoken to Alex, Alex was already sending me a message introducing himself. In such situations, people sometimes do not reply immediately or take too long to show their interest in a new potential client, failing to demonstrate understanding of the client’s problem.
Basically, if someone wants to contact you about something, it is because you have what they need to resolve their problem. They want you to fix a problem for them, and if you understand that, you can make a lot of money very quickly. If you don’t, you could miss out on many opportunities and, consequently, lose a lot of money.
It’s not rocket science!!!
We had arranged an online meeting for yesterday afternoon, which I liked. I liked Alex. I had already noted down all the points I wanted to cover during the meeting, and he told me there would be no problem with him doing so. He then asked me to send him all the necessary access details and passwords, and he would get on with it.
I spent an hour this morning preparing, first in Word and then as a PDF, all the points from the meeting and the necessary information for him to enter on the platforms and do his magic. I promptly sent it to him and replied that he would have a look later and begin.
This was a weight off my shoulders. I can’t overstate how relieved I was to know that a critical issue, one of the reasons I came back to Brazil, is now being resolved.
It is not resolved yet, and there will probably be other issues and problems along the way, but that is all part of the process. I am confident in who is doing it and happy to know that it is being done.
It is so good and such a relief to know that things are going in the right direction, that obstacles are being overcome, that your life, your work, your project are not being stopped or stuck in a rut, and that what you are planting now will grow and flourish in the future.
I am grateful to Renato for referring Alex. Let’s see what happens!
The second piece of good news of the day was that KLM Airlines confirmed a £700 compensation payment for the flight cancellation and, more importantly, for paying twice for my extra suitcase. Maybe if I took them to court, I would get more, but it would take much longer, so £700 is more than reasonable.
I only hope I receive it quickly so I can buy more crypto to take advantage of the current price dip. The entire crypto market is waiting for Bitcoin to go stratospheric in the near future, following the halving in April this year.
So today, this Thursday, has been a good day. Alex is beginning to reconfigure the site, and KLM is going to compensate me.
There is no news from Julie. I miss her, but maybe I think it is best for now. I have classes all day, and it has been a productive day.
In bed by 10.30 p.m.
Thank you.
