Rio de Janeiro: 29oC, windy, cloudy, and very stormy.
The rain was coming down in sheets, and the wind was howling. It was the kind of night that made you want to stay inside and do nothing or curl up with a good book. This time, not me. As much as I liked reading, I was in the mood to get drunk.
I had already bought a decent bottle of red wine, but now that I knew I would drink, I bought another one. Nowadays, I don’t drink beer, and I haven’t drunk spirits for years.
I don’t have a problem with impulse buying, but I do have a problem with compulsion. Once I start something, it is hard for me to stop.
I can go hours without eating, but if someone puts a plate of food in front of me, I will eat it all. And if they bring me another dish, I will eat that too. It’s the same with drinking. Once I start, it’s hard for me to stop.
At least I am aware of this about myself, so I try to limit my temptations. But sometimes, it is necessary to let loose. And there’s nothing like a rainy night to get me in the mood to drink a good bottle of wine.
So that’s what I did. I stayed in my flat, turned on some music, and drank two bottles of wine! I know that some people might think that’s sad, but I don’t think it was for me. It was a time to relax, reminisce, and let go of all my worries. And why not occasionally do something we shouldn’t do?
I woke up the next morning with a little bit of a headache, feeling extremely slow, but I didn’t regret a thing; it was the end of the year. It was the perfect way to end a rainy night.
Thank you for reading!!!
